Zayra Ruiz is a well-established Mexican mezzosoprano who has participated in several international coaching programs in both North America and Europe since 2009. She is more than comfortable singing different opera repertoires in Italian, Russian, German, French, English and Spanish, and her vocal range spreads from La2 to Mi5.

The teachers, coaches, maestros, directors and conductors she has worked with include: Mignon Dunn, Dunja Vjezovic, Pamela Armstrong, Danusa Luknisova, Riccardo Tamura, Alfredo Portilla, Francisco Araiza, Pedro Lavirgen, Graciela Araya, Joan Dornemann, Denise Massè, Vlad Iftinca, Elda Laro, Teresa Rodríguez, Lucy Arner, Alain Guingal, Jean-Paul Penin, Peter Leonard, Hakan Şensoy, Fernando Lozano, Eduardo Álvarez, Iván López-Reynoso, Rodrigo Macías, John Ramster, Luis de Tavira , Luis Miguel Lombana, Raúl Falcó, and Ragnar Conde.

Zayra won First Place in the National Singing Competition of the San Miguel Opera, the Award Merit of the Arts by ASPEVAZA and the Public Prize in the 11th Festival d’Art Vocal in Montrèal, Canada. This young artist has collaborated with musicians of international stature, performing with different orchestras and ensembles, as well as a soloist in important venues in and outside of Mexico, including: the UK, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Japan, the United States, Canada, Guatemala, and Colombia.

Zayra has performed in more than 30 operatic productions. In 2014, she debuted with Manon in the role of Javotte, in Mexico's largest Opera House, the Palacio de Bellas Artes.

In 2017, her highlights include her recent debuts in Berlin, Germany, with the Berlin Opera Academy in the opera as Suor Angelica/Gianni Schicchi, and in London, in the UK, with the Dulwich Opera Company in the lead role of the opera Carmen.

She was a fellow of the prestigious Sociedad Internacional de Valores de Arte Mexicano (SIVAM), the Solistas Ensamble of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA México), and the vocal sextet Tuumben Paax, the latter, winner of First Place and "The Golden David" in Italy, as well as first place and Gold Medal in Japan. The roles she has played over the years include: Carmen and Mercedes in Carmen; Ciesca and Zita in Gianni Schicchi; Suor Zelatrice in Suor Angelica; Dorabella in Così fan tutte; Marcellina and Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro; Mother and Grandmother in Little Red Riding Hood; Fidalma in Il matrimonio segreto; Flora in La Traviata; Third Lady in Zauberflöte; Maddalena in Rigoletto; and Javotte in Manon.
