biography
Dardust, aka Dario Faini, is an Italian pianist and composer among the most awarded of the new generation worldwide. With five albums to his credit: 7, Birth, S.A.D Storm and Drugs, Duality, and the latest Urban Impressionism he has developed a highly distinctive and innovative style, capable of redefining the boundaries between classical and contemporary music, pushing his work far beyond conventional definitions. His music consistently creates unconventional atmospheres through a perfect balance between piano and electronics.
His music has been featured in globally renowned events, including the launch presentation of new products by tech giant Apple Inc., streamed from the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, as well as major sporting events such as the Super Bowl, the NBA All-Star Game, and the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, for which he composed the official soundtrack titled Fantasia Italiana, a piece that pays tribute to Italian musical tradition and the iconic locations hosting the Games.
He has performed around the world, from AlUla in Saudi Arabia — a UNESCO World Heritage site where he played under the stars of the desert — to Turkey, and the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, where he shared the stage with international artists such as Benny Benassi and Sophie and the Giants. He opened for Lana Del Rey at the I-Days Festival in Milan and for Dua Lipa at the NOS Alive Festival in Lisbon. He also served as Maestro Concertatore for the special 25th edition of La Notte della Taranta in Melpignano, Puglia, alongside major guests including Stromae.
He has further established himself as an outstanding songwriter and producer, collaborating with leading Italian artists such as Jovanotti, Sfera Ebbasta, Mahmood, Lazza, Elodie, Irama, Madame, Angelina Mango, and Geolier, contributing to a track record of over 100 platinum records and two victories at the Sanremo Music Festival.
Throughout his multifaceted and eclectic career, he has also ventured into film, composing the soundtrack for the feature film Mani Nude by Mauro Mancini and for the event film Cover Story, created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Vanity Fair.
His intense live activity has continued since late 2024 with the Urban Impressionism Tour, in which Dardust presents his repertoire and the latest album of the same name in a show that challenges the conventions of contemporary neoclassical music, breaking down the boundaries between the arts by merging music and brutalist architecture. The tour, which has surpassed 55 concerts across Italian cities and European capitals, has also included a series of 8 sold-out performances titled Piano Concerto N.1: the artist’s first original score performed live with orchestra within symphonic theatre seasons.
More recently, Dardust has taken a major step into the symphonic field with his first Piano Concerto, commissioned by I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano and premiered with their orchestra. Conceived as a full-scale concerto for piano and orchestra, the work marks his first original symphonic score and expands his distinctive musical language into a broader orchestral dimension, combining his unmistakable piano writing with electronics and a wide range of references, from twentieth-century European music to Rachmaninov, Puccini, Gershwin, and Sakamoto. The concerto is also conceived as an inner journey of transformation, moving through emotional outskirts, darker territories, wounds and memories, before reaching a renewed sense of identity and energy. Following its Italian premiere and the first sold-out performances within symphonic theatre seasons, Dardust will bring the concerto to international orchestras and concert halls from 2027 onwards.
