Maria Badstue

June 27th | Maria Badstue conducting SOI Chamber Orchestra with pianist Søren Rastogi at NCPA Mumbai

The SOI Chamber Orchestra will take the stage at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai, joined by musicians from The Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus/Aalborg (RAMA) and The Royal Danish Academy of Music (RDAM), for an evening of majestic Nordic and Russian repertoire.

The concert, conducted by Maria Badstue, features a rich and dynamic programme. It opens with Carl Nielsen’s Helios Overture, inspired by the Greek myth of the sun god and the composer’s reflections on the Aegean light. Rising Scandinavian composer Gustav Ingeberg contributes The Tale of a Great Dragon, a work of storytelling intensity and orchestral color.

Danish pianist Søren Rastogi will then perform Sergei Rachmaninov’s iconic Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor. The evening concludes with Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No. 5 in E-flat major, a powerful and radiant piece commissioned in celebration of the composer’s 50th birthday, a national holiday in Finland.
