Our soprano Karen Slack will perform with the American Composers Orchestra at Zankel Hall, Carnegie Hall (New York) as part of the festival “United in Sound: America at 250”
Conducted by Carolyn Kuan, the concert “Hello, America: Letters to Us, from Us" brings together leading performers including Amanda Gookin (cello) and Cynthia Yeh (percussion) alongside the Cosmologyscape Ensemble. The evening presents a series of world premieres and new works by prominent contemporary composers, reflecting on American identity, history, and cultural narratives.
The program features new compositions by Shelley Washington, Joseph C. Phillips Jr., Brittany J. Green, Kite, and Jessie Montgomery, exploring themes ranging from collective memory and celebration to the historical and contemporary voices of Black American communities.
