October 18th – 19th | “Kristallisation” – Symphonic Concerts in Aachen with Raphaela Gromes
Cellist Raphaela Gromes joins the Sinfonieorchester Aachen under the baton of Tobias Ringborg for two symphonic concerts titled “Kristallisation”, held at Eurogress Aachen.
The programme explores a spectrum of spiritual and emotional soundscapes, from Carl Nielsen’s triumphant Prelude to Act II from Saul and David to Jean Sibelius’s radiant Symphony No. 2 in D major.
At the heart of the evening are two poignant works for cello and orchestra: Maria Herz’s Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, Op. 10 – a rarely performed one-movement piece shaped by the shadows of exile and infused with elements of traditional Jewish music and Max Bruch’s deeply expressive Kol Nidrei, Op. 47, a Romantic meditation based on a Jewish prayer, and one of the most beloved works of the cello repertoire.
Program: - C. Nielsen, Prelude to Act II from Saul and David - M. Herz, Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, Op. 10 - M. Bruch, Kol Nidrei – Adagio for Cello and Orchestra, Op. 47 - J. Sibelius, Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 43
