October 30th | Lü Jia – inauguration of the Symphonic Season at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa
Lü Jia opens the new 2025-26 symphonic season of the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa with a programme that celebrates both the French and Belgian symphonic traditions. Under his baton, the orchestra of the Carlo Felice Foundation will perform an evocative repertoire, featuring cellist Ettore Pagano as soloist.
The evening begins with Claude Debussy’s Petite Suite, originally written for piano four hands and later orchestrated by Henri Büsser – a delicate and colourful work that sets a refined atmosphere. The focus then shifts to Camille Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, a virtuosic and expressive piece widely regarded as one of the greatest concertos ever written for the instrument. The concert concludes with César Franck’s Symphony in D minor, a powerful and deeply expressive work that blends French lyricism with Germanic structure.
Program: - C. Debussy, Petite Suite L 71 - C. Saint-Saëns, Concerto No. 1 in A minor for cello and orchestra, op. 33 - C. Franck, Symphony in D minor
