Consultant for visual & theatrical projects

From 1988 to the present, Mara Moscano has consolidated her professional experience in the development of arts projects, overseeing all phases from concept creation to artistic and production coordination, from promotion and communication to press office activities.
She has collaborated with national and international institutions and organizations, including: RAI, the Munch Museum (Oslo), Rome Film Festival, Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, Teatro Eliseo (Rome), Cenacolo di Santa Croce (Florence), Palazzo Reale, Fondazione Stelline, Design Festival, Fonderia Mercury, Cineteca di Milano, Goethe-Institut, Mole Antonelliana, Polo del ’900, Unione Musicale Piemonte in Musica, Lingotto (Turin), Regione Piemonte, Festival della Scienza (Genoa), Museum of Contemporary Art (Sarajevo), School of Cinema and Animation (Zagreb), Philip Morris, Altec, UNICEF, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Chile and the Consulate of Chile in Turin, the Consulate of Norway in Milan, as well as art galleries, cultural associations, theatres, festivals, film and music events.

She has worked in the production, organization and promotion of theatre performances, collaborating with actors, actresses and directors such as: Peter Greenaway, Maddalena Crippa, Marisa Fabbri, Michael Nyman, Giampiero Solari, Lucia Poli, Edoardo Fadini, Eugenio Allegri, Piero Bodrato, Gianni Di Capua, Enza Pineda, Sergio Ferrentino, Daniele Ornatelli, Simona Confalonieri, auroraMeccanica, Silvia Viglietti (SV Press); and with poets Alda Merini, Edoardo Sanguineti, and visual poet Arrigo Lora Totino.

She has collaborated with art historians including: Patricia Berman, Philippe Daverio, Cristina Acidini, Stefano Casciu, Andrea Balzola, Paolo Levi, Giancarlo Pagliasso, Maria Luisa Reviglio della Veneria, and Anita Valentini.

Author

  • Concept, direction and script of the documentary Edvard Munch’s Photographic Works.
    The documentary features unpublished photographs from the Munch Museum collection in Oslo, with the special participation of Patricia Berman.
  • Director and screenwriter of the documentary Piero Bargellini, narrated by Gabriele Lavia, produced for the inauguration of the Piero Bargellini Foundation in the presence of the President of the Italian Republic, at the Cenacolo di Santa Croce, Florence.
  • Author of the project Labyrinth and Communication, later developed within Andrea Balzola’s degree course at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Milan (2003–2005).
  • Concept, subject and curation of the documentary Voices of a City: Turin, featuring Alessandro Baricco, Carol Rama, Luca Ronconi, Tullio Regge, Gianni Vattimo, Piero Gilardi, Gabetti & Isola, with Eugenio Allegri and Andrea Balzola; directed by Piero Bodrato.
  • Curation and organization of the presentation at Teatro Carignano, including a concert by the Turin Philharmonic Orchestra and a poetry recital by actress Marisa Fabbri.
  • Author, casting director, writer and artistic consultant for RAI and RAI Educational for daytime and prime-time television programs, including a special evening broadcast in memory of Marcello Mastroianni.
  • Artistic direction and curation of a film montage dedicated to the figure of Otello in cinema and theatre, produced for the live RAI broadcast of Otello from Teatro Regio of Turin, performed by the Berliner Philharmoniker and conducted by Claudio Abbado.
  • Organization of concerts, training courses and advanced music programs, collaborating with musicians such as conductor Piero Bellugi, composer Michael Nyman, and musicologist Sergio Sablich for the performance/concert Peer Gynt, with music by Edvard Grieg in the adaptation by director Ingmar Bergman.

Concept Development and Curation

  • Curation, organization and promotion of The Missing Nail, a multimedia performance by and with director Peter Greenaway, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, created for the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of Leonardo’s death.
    Presented at the Design Festival (Milan), Festival della Scienza (Genoa), and Teatro Eliseo (Rome).
  • Curation and promotion of the cinematic and photographic work of composer Michael Nyman at the Reggia di Venaria, Fondazione Stelline (Milan), Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, and the Rome Film Festival.
  • Collaboration on the concept of Che Razza di Storia, an interactive multimedia installation marking the 80th anniversary of the enactment of the Italian racial laws, produced by auroraMeccanica at Polo del ’900, Turin.
    The exhibition received an official visit and medal from the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
  • Curation and organization of the collage exhibition by Luciana Chiostri dedicated to Anna Maria Luisa de’ Medici, Electress Palatine, held in conjunction with the annual commemorations of her death.
    Featuring texts by Cristina Acidini, Stefano Casciu and Anita ValentiniSalone dei Cinquecento, Palazzo Vecchio, Florence.
  • Site-specific concept Impronte di Uomini, an audiovisual installation and photographic exhibition dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing – Philip Morris and Altec.
  • Concept and organization of the project Infanzia Negata, a photographic exhibition accompanied by meetings and conferences – UNICEF, Polo del ’900, Turin.
  • Press office and organization of the photographic exhibition Opposti non Complementari, curated by Andrea Balzola.
    Following its presentation at the 1994 Venice Art Biennale, organization, promotion and press office for the body art exhibition Corpos Pintados at the Mole Antonelliana (Turin) and the Arengario, Palazzo Reale (Milan).
  • Organization and press office for the opening of the Filippo Scroppo Civic Gallery of Contemporary Art.
  • Organization, promotion and press office for the project Weltanschauung – Autoritratto di Fine Millennio, Lingotto, Turin.
