July 10th | Marcus Bosch conducting “Mutterliebe” – OH! in the Pauluskirche in Heidenheim
The Pauluskirche in Heidenheim will host a deeply moving choral concert entitled “Mutterliebe” on July 10th, 2025. The evening features two powerful settings of the Stabat Mater, a medieval Latin hymn evoking the sorrow of the Virgin Mary at the crucifixion of her son. Under the direction of Marcus Bosch, the Cappella Aquileia and the Tschechischer Philharmonischer Chor Brünn will perform this programme.
The concert opens with the Stabat Mater by Petr Fiala, a contemporary Czech composer and choral conductor. The evening’s soloist is violist Kristina Fialová, who also premiered the piece in 2023 and will reprise her role in Heidenheim.
The second half of the programme presents the celebrated Stabat Mater, op. 58 by Antonín Dvořák, first performed in Prague in 1880. Composed in the shadow of personal tragedy – the loss of the composer’s three children – the work is considered one of his most poignant and spiritually charged creations.
