September 14th – 16th | Marcus Bosch opens the season in Rostock with Mahler’s Symphony No. 7
The Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock, under the direction of Marcus Bosch, opens the new concert season with a monumental work of the symphonic repertoire: Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 7.
Composed during the summer months at his retreat in Maiernigg on the Wörthersee, the symphony stands out for its unusual five-movement structure. Mahler himself described it shortly before its Prague premiere as “my best work, and predominantly of a cheerful character.”
With this performance, Marcus Bosch and the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock present an ambitious and powerful start to the season “Glück und Schmerz” (“Joy and Sorrow”).
