October 16th – 19th | Maria Badstue conducting “The Three Musketeers” in Antwerp
Conductor Maria Badstue takes the stage with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra for a bold and family-friendly production: “The Three Musketeers” (De Drie Musketiers), in collaboration with Belgian theatre collective Lazarus.
Aimed at children aged 6 and up, this lively adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel is performed in Dutch and reimagined in an accessible and adventurous format. Aramis, d’Artagnan and Athos – now dreaming of retirement in a sunny villa – are summoned by King Louis for one last mission: to find the mysterious man in the iron mask. What they uncover in the mountains will challenge everything they know about friendship and loyalty.
The music is by Malcolm Arnold, whose vibrant and dramatic score perfectly underscores the swashbuckling tale with cinematic flair. On stage, alongside Badstue and the orchestra, actors Joris Van den Brande, Günther Lesage, and Pieter Genard bring the story to life with wit and energy.
Part of the KIDconcerts series, the performances are designed to introduce young audiences to the symphonic world in an engaging, theatrical context.
