Marcus Bosch

January 25th – 27th | Philharmonic concert “Schätze” – Marcus Bosch conducts the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock

Marcus Bosch leads the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock in the 5th Philharmonic Concert of the season, titled Schätze (“Treasures”), a programme dedicated to rediscovering musical gems connected by their shared Viennese roots.

The concert brings together works by Johannes Brahms, Hermann Grädener and Mathilde Kralik von Meyrswalden, three composers whose artistic paths converged in Vienna. While Brahms’ Hungarian Dances have long since become part of the core repertoire, the Piano Concerto by Grädener and the Hymnic Symphony by Kralik von Meyrswalden represent rare late-Romantic treasures, seldom heard on today’s concert stages.

Under the direction of Marcus Bosch, the programme opens with three of Brahms’ Hungarian Dances, among the few the composer orchestrated himself. Pianist Oliver Triendl, internationally recognised for his dedication to rediscovering neglected repertoire, is the soloist in Grädener’s Piano Concerto in D minor, a work composed in the 1880s and closely linked to Brahms’ circle. The concert concludes with Kralik von Meyrswalden’s Hymnic Symphony, a powerful and rarely performed late-Romantic work, whose final movement features soprano Tineke Van Ingelgem.

Program:
- J. Brahms, Hungarian Dances No. 1 in G minor, No. 3 in F major, No. 10 in F major
- H. Grädener, Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in D minor, Op. 20
- M. K. von Meyrswalden, Hymnic Symphony
