Pianist & conductor Misha Shekhtman joins Only Stage roster!
“Magnificent interpretation in every way” - Semyon Bychkov on Mahler 7th
Winner of the 2025 F. Friscay conducting competition, young conductor Misha Shekhtman is a new star of his generation. Invitations from 11 European orchestras follow the prize. Highlights include concerts in Baden-Baden and Sofia with legendary Mikhail Pletnev on piano. Recently, he collaborated with singers including Anna Netrebko and Ambrogio Maestri. As a pianist he performed under Herbert Blomstedt (Adventliche at the Gewandhaus), James Gaffigan and Santtu-Mathias Rouvali. Misha has an OPUS-Klassik award for a Decca CD.
In 2020 Shekhtman founded festivalorchestra, bringing together musicians from Europe, Israel, Ukraine, Russia, Germany, South Korea and more. Recordings include a premiere of Bernd Richard Deutsch, Mahler’s Symphony 7, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, Beethoven’s Symphony 7, Strawinsky’s Le Sacre du Printemps to critical acclaim.
