March 26th | Rory Musgrave in M. Simpson “The Immortal” with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic
Our baritone Rory Musgrave joins the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall for a programme that brings together British lyricism and Nordic symphonic grandeur.
Under the direction of Daniela Candillari, the evening opens with Edward Elgar’s Serenade for Strings, a work of luminous elegance and expressive warmth. The concert continues with Mark Simpson’s The Immortal (new version), a striking and supernatural oratorio first premiered in 2015. The work features Rory Musgrave alongside the EXAUDI vocal ensemble.
The programme concludes with Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2, a monumental work that channels both national spirit and deeply personal emotion. Expansive, dramatic and crowned by its unforgettable final theme, the symphony remains one of the most compelling statements of the late-Romantic repertoire.
