Vincent Larderet – Critical acclaim for “Ravel: Complete Works for Solo Piano Vol. II”
Vincent Larderet’s latest album dedicated to Ravel’s solo piano works has received high praise from critic Christie Grimstad, who underlines the pianist’s exceptional blend of virtuosity and insight. Described as a “resounding display of pianistic craftsmanship”, the performance stands out for its interpretative depth and structural clarity.
Particularly lauded is Larderet’s rendition of "Gaspard de la nuit", where "Scarbo" emerges ominous yet controlled, and the world premiere of Lucien Garban’s transcription of "Introduction et Allegro", defined as “a stunning musical composite” full of fluidity and suspense. Grimstad also highlights the emotional intelligence behind "Le Tombeau de Couperin" and the expressive detail in the more intimate miniatures.
Larderet’s approach, influenced by Vlado Perlemuter’s annotated scores, offers a unique and historically informed perspective, faithful, but never rigid.
