Wolfram Christ

March 19th | Wolfram Christ conducts OPV with Giovanni Andrea Zanon in Padua

The Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto returns to the stage of the Auditorium Pollini in Padua with a programme dedicated to the Romantic tradition.

On the podium, Wolfram Christ leads the orchestra alongside violinist Giovanni Andrea Zanon.

The evening opens with Jean Sibelius’ Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47, one of the most demanding and expressive works in the violin repertoire. Combining Nordic lyricism with virtuosic brilliance, the concerto unfolds in sweeping melodic lines and dramatic contrasts, offering the soloist moments of both introspective beauty and powerful intensity.

The second half features Johannes Brahms’ Serenade No. 2 in A major, Op. 16, a work of refined orchestral colour and lyrical warmth. Written without violins, the serenade reveals Brahms’ deep understanding of instrumental balance and texture, creating a rich and intimate symphonic landscape.
