November 15th | World Premiere of Gabriel Prokofiev’s Synthesizer Concerto at Casa da Música, Porto
The Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música presents “Dinastia Prokofieff”, a concert that bridges generations of creativity and innovation.
Central to the program is the world premiere of the Synthesizer Concerto by Gabriel Prokofiev, grandson of the legendary Russian composer. Known for his bold fusion of electronic and classical traditions, Prokofiev continues to redefine contemporary composition, bringing the energy of electronic dance music into dialogue with orchestral sound. This new work, commissioned by Casa da Música, marks a milestone in his exploration of the evolving role of technology in concert music, and will feature Inna Faliks as soloist on synthesizer — a role that demands both virtuosity and sensitivity in navigating between acoustic and electronic textures.
The program also includes a new piece by Portuguese composer Igor C Silva, written for orchestra, soloists, and electronics, commissioned by the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO). Combining jazz, improvisation, and digital soundscapes, Silva’s music expands the boundaries of the contemporary orchestral experience.
Under the direction of Andrew Gourlay, this concert showcases the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música in an evening that celebrates innovation, heritage, and the future of sound.
