Yibai Chen will perform a cello and piano duo recital with Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort at Germanuskerk in Tienen, Belgium.

Both artists are laureates of the Queen Elisabeth Competition: Yibai Chen was awarded Second Prize in the 2022 cello edition, while Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort was a laureate in 2007.

The programme brings together Dvořák, Grieg and Rachmaninov in a recital of strong lyrical and expressive character. Dvořák’s Sonatina in G major, Op. 100, arranged for cello, reflects the composer’s American period while retaining a deep connection to his Bohemian roots. Grieg’s Cello Sonata in A minor, Op. 36 combines Nordic intensity with moments of stillness, while Rachmaninov’s Cello Sonata, Op. 19 closes the programme with broad melodic writing and dramatic energy.
