Cellist Yibai Chen will take centre stage at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing, performing the two monumental cello concertos by Dmitry Shostakovich.
Under the baton of Lawrence Foster and accompanied by the China NCPA Orchestra, Yibai Chen will interpret Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major, Op. 107 on the first evening and Cello Concerto No. 2 in G Major, Op. 126 on the second.

Both concerts will conclude with Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 2 in C Major, Op. 61, offering a perfect balance between the emotional intensity of Shostakovich and the lyrical classicism of Schumann.
