Cellist Yibai Chen delivered a striking performance at the opening of the 57th season of the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic under the baton of Vahan Mardirossian, the orchestra’s new chief conductor.

Described by Klasika Plus as “a master with impeccable technique and a mature personality, impressive above all with his thoughtfulness,” Chen performed Dvořák’s Adagio for Cello Op. 68 and Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme Op. 33. His interpretation balanced lyrical sensitivity with technical brilliance, drawing sustained ovations from the audience.

The encore—a movement from Gaspar Cassadó’s Suite for Solo Cello—further demonstrated his musical depth and connection with the audience.
