Young conductor winner of the last Toscani Conducting Competition Stepan Armasar joins Only Stage management’s roster!
Stepan Armasar has been awarded both the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the last Arturo Toscanini International Conducting Competition 2025 in Parma, Italy. At just 25 years old, and as the youngest finalist of the competition, Armasar stood out for his artistic maturity, natural authority, and refined musical sensibility—qualities particularly evident in his interpretation of Rendering by Luciano Berio during the final round.
Born in 2000 in the Moscow region and of Moldovan descent, Armasar began his musical training at the Secondary Special Music School of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, studying accordion with Professor Alexander Dmitriev. He soon achieved international recognition, winning prizes at competitions such as the Coupe Mondiale (Italy) and the Trophée Mondial (France) in 2017, and receiving the Cultural Initiatives Award from Maestro Yuri Temirkanov.
In 2019, he entered the St. Petersburg Conservatory to continue his studies, first in accordion and then in conducting under Professor Peter Gribanov. In 2021, he joined the Faculty of Opera and Symphony Conducting and began collaborating with orchestras such as the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Karaganda Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rostov State Philharmonic and the Orchestra Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini.
