From November 2023 to January 2024 the Mendelssohn International Conducting Competition is taking place in the locations of Prague, New York, and Seoul. Among the jury members are several of our agency's artists.
Felix Mendelssohn International Conducting Competition is an event organised by Classics Management in cooperation with representatives of some of the most prestigious institutions in the field of classical music in Europe, United States of America and Asia.
ELIMINATORY PHASE The eliminatory phase of the competition will be held in November 2023 in three different countries: Czech Republic (Europe), New York (USA), Seoul (South Korea) and the candidates are allowed to choose the one they prefer.
FINAL PHASE The final phase of the competition will be held in Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic) from January the 15 th until January the 18 th 2024. At the final phase will be admitted 36 candidates, 12 from each eliminatory.
REPERTOIRE The repertoire of the competition is focused on Mendelssohn’s music but includes musically demanding masterpieces by other composers such as Carl Maria von Weber, Johannes Brahms and Béla Bartók, chosen to test in deep the admitted conductors.
JURY The jury is made by Internationally acclaimed conductors, agents and representatives of prestigious institutions such as Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, Only Stage Management London, Prague Conservatoire, Korea National University, Bard College and orchestras such as Beethoven Orchester Bonn, PKF — Prague Philharmonia, Korean National Symphony Orchestra.
PRIZES The prizes consist in concerts in Europe and USA, among them a concert at Smetana Hall in Prague with Prague Philharmonia and Andrei Gavrilov as a soloist and one year of representation by Only Stage Management London.
