October 4th | Eckehard Stier Conducts the Celebration of Catania’s 2755th Anniversary
Eckehard Stier conducts a special concert at the Teatro Metropolitan in Catania, celebrating the 2755th anniversary of the foundation of the city.
The programme brings together works by Vincenzo Bellini, Hector Berlioz, Gioachino Rossini, Yuri Furnari, Gaetano Donizetti and Richard Wagner, in a concert that combines major figures of the operatic and symphonic repertoire with two world premieres.
The evening will feature the first performance of Yuri Furnari’s Momentum, as well as the world premiere of Luciano Maria Serra’s Concerto for marranzano and orchestra, with Puccio Castrogiovanni as soloist.
The concert is commissioned by the Teatro Massimo Bellini and forms part of the official celebrations dedicated to the city of Catania.
