Lü Jia conducts “Harvest China” at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) Concert Hall in Beijing.

Commissioned by the NCPA and composed by Meng Weidong to a text by Changfu, “Harvest China” is a large-scale symphonic choral work inspired by Chinese farming civilization and the Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival. Structured as an overture, four main sections and a finale, the work traces a journey from the roots of agricultural culture to rural reform, harvest celebrations and contemporary rural revitalisation.

As Music and Artistic Director of the production, Lü Jia leads the China NCPA Orchestra, China NCPA Chorus, Beijing Philharmonic Choir and NCPA Resident Singers, together with a large cast of vocal soloists and traditional performers.
