October 22nd – 28th | Lü Jia Conducts the NCPA’s new production of “The Long March”

Lü Jia conducts the China NCPA Orchestra in a new production of the Chinese epic opera “The Long March” at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.

Presented to mark the 90th anniversary of the Victory of the Long March of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army, the production revisits the opera first premiered in 2016 with a renewed staging and refined musical interpretation. Composed by Yin Qing to a libretto by Zou Jingzhi, the work follows the Red Army through some of the defining episodes of the Long March, combining large-scale choral writing with intimate scenes focused on sacrifice, resilience and collective memory.

Under Lü Jia’s musical direction, the production brings together the China NCPA Orchestra, China NCPA Chorus, NCPA Resident Singers and a large cast of soloists. The staging is directed by Tian Qinxin, with sets by Wang Chen, lighting by Wang Qi and multimedia design by Hu Tianji.
