Flavio Emilio Scogna

June 2nd – 3rd | “Battiato nascosto” conducted by Flavio Emilio Scogna in Croatia

To mark Italy’s Republic Day, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Zagreb, presents “Battiato nascosto” a symphonic homage to the visionary Italian composer and singer-songwriter Franco Battiato. The project is conducted by Flavio Emilio Scogna and will be performed in two Croatian cities: Zagreb and Rijeka.

The programme explores the lesser-known orchestral and contemporary side of Battiato’s work, showcasing his unique blend of experimentalism, minimalism, and philosophical reflection. It features a rare performance of Messa arcaica, as well as orchestral compositions from his early avant-garde period in the 1970s.

The concert in Zagreb will take place at the Croatian Music Institute on Monday June 2nd, and will be followed by a performance in Rijeka at the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc on Tuesday June 3rd.
