Charlie Siem

November 16th | Charlie Siem performing Korngold Violin Concerto at Carnegie Hall, New York

The World Doctors Orchestra, an ensemble of physicians from across the globe, makes its Carnegie Hall debut at the Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, in a concert that unites music, artistry, and humanitarian purpose.

At the heart of the evening is Charlie Siem, whose radiant tone, lyrical phrasing, and commanding presence bring Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s Violin Concerto to life. One of the most captivating violin concertos of the 20th century, Korngold’s score fuses Viennese lyricism with Hollywood brilliance — a perfect match for Siem’s distinctive blend of elegance and emotional intensity.

Under the direction of Joseph Alessi, the orchestra completes the program with a vibrant journey through rhythmic color and symphonic storytelling. Pianist and storyteller Dr. Richard Kogan illuminates the genius of George Gershwin before performing his own interpretation of Rhapsody in Blue, while the concert closes in dazzling fashion with Leonard Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story.

Program:
- N. Rimsky-Korsakov, Capriccio espagnol
- E. W. Korngold, Violin Concerto
- G. Gershwin, Rhapsody in Blue
- L. Bernstein, Symphonic Dances from West Side Story
