November 7th – 16th | Dmitry Sitkovetsky at Baku International Arts Festival

The Baku International Arts Festival will feature two remarkable appearances by Dmitry Sitkovetsky, marking a deeply personal return to his birthplace, Baku. The festival will open with a moving tribute concert dedicated to his father, the legendary violinist Julian Sitkovetsky, and will conclude with a grand gala celebrating the 80th anniversary of Azerbaijani composer Polad Bulbuloglu.

On November 7th, at the Philharmonic Hall, the concert “Julian Sitkovetsky 100 – Tribute from Baku” will gather distinguished musicians from around the world. This event honors one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century — an artist of exceptional depth whose brilliant career, though tragically brief, left an enduring mark on musical history.

The evening will feature Dmitry Sitkovetsky both as violinist and conductor, together with the Baku State Chamber Orchestra led by Fuad Ibragimov, and guest artists Liana Gourdjia, Ayaka Uchio, Nezrin Asanli, and Murad Adigezalzade. The program includes J.S. Bach’s Triple Concerto, Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir d’un lieu cher, a rare Nocturne for Piano and Strings by Chopin, and Shostakovich’s String Symphony.
A concert of remembrance and musical lineage, celebrating the enduring legacy of Julian Sitkovetsky and the artistry he inspired.

On November 16th, the Festival Closing Concert will once again take place at the Philharmonic Hall, honoring Polad Bulbuloglu, an outstanding composer and cultural figure of Azerbaijan, on the occasion of his 80th anniversary.

With Dmitry Sitkovetsky as guest soloist and the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Fuad Ibragimov, the program will include some of Bulbuloglu’s most emblematic works: Concert Waltz, Symphonic Dances(Girls’ Dance, Oriental Dance, Yalli), and his Concerto for Violin and Orchestra (Agitato – Allegro, Lento, Vivo).
