Feb 13-16, 2022 | 5 days composition course with Gabriel Prokofiev at the Stauffer Center for Strings in Cremona, Italy

Between the 12th-16th of February 2022, Gabriel Prokofiev will be leading a masterclass at the Stauffer Center for Strings in Cremona, the birthplace of the violin (home of Amati, Rugeri, & Stradivarios). During the course, he will explore the question: How do we compose music in the 21st Century? The students will be challenged to re-evaluate their roles as composers and reconsider the potential of contemporary classical in the context of modern 21st century life. The lab will explore the role of electronics alongside the importance of acoustic performance and also discuss performance practice, exploring ideas about how to bring contemporary works to new audiences.

ADMISSION CRITERIA
The masterclass is reserved to composers of exceptional musical talent aged between 18 and 35 years old.
Italian or foreign candidates with a 1st or 2nd level Academic Diploma in composition are admitted to the auditions. Students from higher education courses and candidates may also be admitted who, regardless of their qualification, are at the sole discretion of the Master and the Academic Management in possession of exceptional requisites.
A good knowledge of the English language is required.
