April 24th – 25th | Lü Jia – Mahler Symphony No. 9 at Teatro Filarmonico in Verona
Lü Jia conducts the Orchestra di Fondazione Arena di Verona in Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 in D major at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, presented as the 4th concert of the season. The performance marks the orchestra’s first encounter with Mahler’s Ninth at the Teatro Filarmonico. Mahler’s final completed symphony unfolds as an intense farewell, shaped by sorrowful melodies, echoes of Beethoven and Bruckner, rustic ländler and darker, demonic scherzo-like gestures.
