Marcus Bosch will conduct Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth at Opernfestspiele Heidenheim.

The opera, with a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave and additions by Andrea Maffei after William Shakespeare, is one of Verdi’s early masterpieces and marks an important step away from traditional operatic forms towards a closer relationship with Shakespeare’s drama.

The production is directed by Andreas Baesler, who also signs the stage concept and costumes, with lighting design by Hartmut Litzinger and dramaturgy by Gerhard Herfeldt.

The cast includes Thomas Weinhappel as Macbeth, Leah Gordon as Lady Macbeth, Don Lee as Banco, David Esteban as Macduff and Santiago Bürgi as Malcolm.
