October 11th – 12th | Maria Badstue conducting “Grieg, le grand soleil du Nord” at Opéra de Tours
The Opéra de Tours devotes an entire weekend to the radiant music of Edvard Grieg, in a programme titled Grieg, le grand soleil du Nord, conducted by Maria Badstue and featuring pianist François Dumont.
The concert opens with the iconic Morning Mood from Peer Gynt, followed by Grieg’s passionate and lyrical Piano Concerto in A minor, one of the most beloved works of the Romantic piano repertoire. The programme concludes with his rarely performed Symphony in C minor, a powerful and emotionally rich score that reveals a different side of the Norwegian composer.
Maria Badstue, known for her precision and expressivity on the podium, leads the Orchestre Symphonique Région Centre-Val de Loire/Tours in two performances celebrating the Nordic spirit through Grieg’s luminous musical language.
