October 20th | Filippo Gorini with Silesian Symphony Orchestra in Poland

The concert on October 20th, introducing the upcoming 11th International Grzegorz Fitelberg Conductors' Competition, will feature an all-Mozart program. The Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Yaroslav Shemet - the artistic director of our institution and a competition juror - will be performing. The evening's soloist will be Filippo Gorini, the laureate of the Premio Abbiati award for Best Soloist of 2022, the Borletti-Buitoni Trust award, and the first prize at the International Telekom Beethoven Competition in 2015.

The introduction to the program of Mozart's brilliant music will be the sparkling Overture from the opera The Marriage of Figaro. Afterward, it will be time for the solemn Linz Symphony, which includes both joyful passages and those that inspire reverie. In the third part of the evening, the Piano Concerto in D minor, pianist Filippo Gorini will join the Philharmonic musicians. The concerto will bring a change in mood, introducing drama, pathos, but also one of Mozart's most beautiful and enchanting compositions - the Romance in the second movement. To conclude, the serenading Haffner Symphony in D major will be heard, beginning with a Minuet that transitions into an Andante in the form of an extended song, followed by another Minuet and the final Presto that recalls a theme from Mozart's opera written in the same year, The Abduction from the Seraglio.
