Marcus Bosch is one of Germany’s most prominent and innovative conductors, internationally sought after for his stylistic breadth and visionary approach. Since 2020 he has served as chief conductor of the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock and has been Artistic Director of the Opernfestspiele Heidenheim since 2010, developing it into one of Europe’s most successful classical festivals.
Praised by Gramophone as one of the top ten Bruckner conductors today, he has also achieved major acclaim for his Beethoven and Brahms recordings. Bosch has conducted over 100 orchestras worldwide, including performances at the Semperoper Dresden, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Staatskapelle Dresden, and collaborations with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, Teatro Regio di Parma, and Wexford Festival Opera.
With a repertoire covering over 100 operatic titles and all major symphonic works from baroque to contemporary music, Bosch is also an influential educator, leading the conducting class at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich.
He is recognised for pioneering new concert formats and innovative broadcasting projects, such as the first opera livestream in cinemas.
