May 21st – 25th | Sofía Mara as Marzelline in Beethoven’s Fidelio at Teatro Solís in Montevideo
Sofía Mara will perform the role of Marzelline in Fidelio, Ludwig van Beethoven’s only opera, presented as part of the 2026 opera season at Teatro Solís in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Conceived in 1805 and revised until 1814, Fidelio remains a work of profound political and human resonance, placing music at the service of a question that still speaks to the present: what does it mean to resist when power imposes silence?
This new production of Teatro Solís will be conducted by Martín García, with stage direction, set design, and scenography by Nicolás Boni. The cast includes Sabina Cvilak as Leonora, Eric Herrero as Florestán, Savio Sperandio as Rocco, Licio Bruno as Don Pizarro, Sofía Mara as Marzelline, Santiago Martínez as Jaquino, and Alfonso Mujica as Don Fernando, together with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Montevideo and Coro Nacional del SODRE.
