Vincent Larderet receives positive review for his last album from International Piano Magazine (UK)
Vincent Larderet has received a very positive review from International Piano Magazine (UK) for the second volume of his complete Ravel solo piano works, released by Avie Records.
Reviewer Charles Timbrell describes this new release as “a complete success”, praising Larderet’s varied textures, alert rhythms and close attention to detail. Particular attention is given to “Le Tombeau de Couperin”, with its light and airy Prélude, bittersweet Forlane and clean, fast and unflagging Toccata.
The review also highlights Larderet’s interpretation of “Gaspard de la nuit”, especially the fine nuances of Ondine, the still and eerie atmosphere of Le Gibet, and the colour and excitement of “Scarbo”.
The article also notes the value of Larderet’s complete Ravel cycle, which includes first recordings and transcriptions by Ravel and his colleagues, making the project particularly distinctive within the discography.
