Our rising cellist Yibai Chen will take the stage with the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Lu Zhang, to perform Dmitri Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 2.

Written in 1966, this powerful and introspective concerto stands as one of Shostakovich’s most personal and enigmatic works. With its unconventional structure, biting sarcasm, and moments of lyrical melancholy, the piece offers a profound emotional journey—perfectly suited to Yibai Chen’s mature and expressive musical voice.
